Information for the Media and for Policymakers
for the Media and for Policymakers
Global climate change, the depletion of fisheries, deforestation, biodiversity loss, urban environmental quality, and suburban sprawl are among the key environmental issues facing Canadian society in the 21st century. These and other environmental issues are not external to society, but are intimately bound up with our social values and behaviours, as well as our social, economic, and political structures. Environmental sociologists have developed expertise in understanding the social dimensions of environmental problems and conflicts, and provide insight into making the transition towards ecological and social sustainability.
This website provides resources, including profiles of Canadian environmental sociologists, for journalists and policy-makers interested in drawing on the knowledge and skills of Canadian environmental sociologists.
