The 48th Annual Conference of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA)/ La Société canadienne de sociologie (SCS) will be held June 3rd through June 8th 2013 at the University of Victoria in Victoria British Columbia as part of the 2013 Congress of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
The CSA-SCS Call for Papers requires all abstracts to be submitted though our online conference system http://www.csa-scs.ca/submissions by January 31, 2013. Please register on the site to create an account on the system if you did not participate in the Conference last year.
Session Organizers will notify authors whether their abstract requires revisions, has been accepted for presentation, or has been declined for presentation on or before February 15, 2013.
Authors should check their account at http://www.csa-scs.ca/submissions to confirm the review status. Contact the Session Organizer and our office if it appears that your paper has not yet been reviewed after February 15, 2013.
The Conference schedule has now been posted but is subject to change. Continue to check the Conference website at http://www.csa-scs.ca/conference for developing news and important announcements.
**In the event that you are unable to attend the Conference, kindly inform the session organizer and the CSA Office immediately. **
PREPARING TO ATTEND THE CONFERENCE
- Ensure that you comply with the CSA Membership Requirement policy
CSA Membership is a mandatory requirement for those participating in the Conference (presenters, Chairs, Discussants, and panelists). The compliance deadline is April 15, 2013. Failure to comply by this deadline will result in the participant’s name being removed from the Official Conference Program.
Co-Authors neither presenting at, nor attending, the Conference are exempt from this policy. Policy waivers in other cases are dependent upon approval of the Congress Committee and may apply to those participating in CSA identified joint sessions or panelists from outside the field of Sociology. Please contact us for further information.
- Complete the Congress Registration
All attendees at the Conference (presenters, Chairs, Discussants, panelists, and those only observing) must be registered Congress Delegates.
Online registration opened January 16, 2013 with early bird fees ending March 31, 2013.
- Plan your travel and accommodation for Congress and our Conference through the Congress website at http://www.congress2013.ca/
- Communicate with your Session Organizer regarding expectations for the full paper submission due May 1, 2013. Papers should be emailed directly to the organizers.
- Visit the CSA Conference website regularly for event information, schedule and locations. Details are added as planning develops.
AV
Each session room will be equipped with a data projector, projection screen, ethernet cable and Internet access, and sound system only. Laptops or desktop computers will not be supplied. Some rooms may have built-in media stations but the CSA-SCS will not be able to confirm this before the Conference. Please ensure you or the session organizers are prepared with a laptop computer.
Arriving at Congress
Anyone participating in or attending the CSA Conference must check-in at the Congress Registration Site (located in the McKinnon Building) to pick up their Congress Delegate badge, Delegate Guide, and receipt. Registration for Congress must be completed online or onsite before your presentation or participation in a CSA-SCS session.
The next step is to check in at the CSA Information Table (located in the Elliott Building 100C) to pick up your Official CSA-SCS Conference Program. This will also be the location of coffee breaks, displays, and last minute session updates. The Information Table will be conveniently located near the CSA sessions and events.
