Schedule and Location: Tuesday, May 27 12:30pm – 1:30pm Vallee-500
Members of the CSA are invited to meet and discuss the formation of a CSA cluster on relational sociology. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 27 from 12:30pm – 1:30pm in Vallee 500. In the last three years, we organized panels on relational sociology at the annual congress of the CSA. On each occasion, we have been pleased by the level of interest and the quality of the discussions. This is hardly surprising since there have been an important “relational turn” in sociology and social sciences in the last two or three decades all around the world. There is little doubt that there is some room for a network of relational social scientists in Canada. This project is also in continuation to the recent publications of two books on relational sociology involving many Canadian sociologists (Powell and Dépelteau 2013; Dépelteau and Powell 2013).
For now, the main goals are to create a network of relational sociologists to prepare future activities related to relational sociology in Canada and in other countries, and to diffuse information about new publications, seminars, panels, and any other relevant activities on relational sociology. This cluster is open to other disciplines. We should be able to integrate established Canadian and international relational sociologists in this cluster in the coming months. Students and sociologists from other countries will be more than welcome.
This year again, we are organizing two panels on relational sociology at the annual congress of the CSA on the May 27th from 9:00am to 10:30am and 10:45am to 12:15pm (Vallee 300).
