This year’s conference will focus on the theme, “The Future of Publishing,” with a Publisher’s Panel as the Keynote Presentation. This panel made up of industry leaders will discuss the evolving publishing industry. Elsevier’s Executive Publisher Bart Wacek will share how and where the article of the future might be published. PLoS One Publisher Peter Binfield will cover open access publications and their impact on the future of the publishing world. Gavin Sharrock, Publisher at Wiley-Blackwell, will share his views on the types of ethical issues our industry will face in the future and how we can manage them.
In addition to thinking about the future, this year’s conference will feature hands-on sessions focused on social media, Microsoft Excel and online tracking systems.These sessions are designed to give attendees a chance to pick up something new that can be used at work each day. Other sessions will focus on timely ethical, journal business and peer review issues discussed in editorial offices and on publishing blogs.The Conference Planning Committee has developed a diverse agenda of speakers, built around great networking opportunities.
