Sociology of Culture Research Cluster

We are pleased to announce the formation of the Sociology of Culture research cluster in the Canadian Sociological Association.

The research cluster will provide an institutional base within the CSA for this growing area of research, help co-ordinate Sociology of Culture panels at the annual meeting of the CSA, and reach out to scholars working in related fields and disciplines. We will establish a website and mailing list to connect cultural sociologists in Canada and abroad, and to aid in the dissemination of research within the scholarly community.

A meeting will be held at Congress 2014 to formally establish the cluster. We invite you to join us; submissions are now open for 18 sessions in the sociology of culture: http://www.csa-scs.ca/files/webapps/csapress/annual-conferences/category/sessions/sociology-of-culture/.

In the meantime, interested faculty, students, and independent scholars can email Kim de Laat (kim.delaat@mail.utoronto.ca; include “CSA Culture Cluster” in the subject line) to join the listserv. We welcome your input into the research cluster’s future.

On behalf of the organizing committee,

Kim de Laat (kim.delaat@mail.utoronto.ca)

Diana Miller (diana.miller@mail.utoronto.ca)

Allyson Stokes (a2stokes@uwaterloo.ca)

Benjamin Woo (benjamin.woo@carleton.ca)
