Join the Cluster Social Event – CSA 2014… at a vineyard

Environmental Sociology Research Cluster Members and CSA 2014 Environmental Sociology Panelists – Join us!

As organizers of this year’s Environmental Sociology Research Cluster Social during CSA 2014 at Brock University, we invite you to join this year’s social event!

Over the past few years the ESRC has been getting together for an annual dinner in a local restaurant during the CSA annual meeting. This year, given Brock University’s location in the beautiful Niagara wine region we have organized an evening of wine tasting and dinner at Southbrook Vineyards in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Below please find the social event details and instructions.

Location: Southbrook Vineyards: http://www.southbrook.com/
Southbrook Vineyards is a biodynamic and organic winery located approximately 15 minutes (driving) from Brock University campus. We have booked the lovely Oak Room which seats up to 14 people:

This is about the size of groups that have attended the social in the past few years; however, since seating is limited, if you are interested in attending the social please RSVP to this email using the form linked to below soon as possible.

Date: Wednesday May 28th, 7:15 pm (wine tasting), 8:00 pm (dinner)
RSVP: Please see the RSVP form linked to below by May 15th.
Additional details: Wine tasting: There will be a presentation at the winery on Southbrook’s biodynamic and organic wine-making methods, followed by a complimentary wine tasting.
Dinner: We have arranged a 3-course set menu for $30 with the Yellow Pear (Southbrook’s catering service) served in the Oak Room. This menu includes a choice of appetizer, a choice of entree, and a set dessert and cheese course. There is also a $50 option that includes a wine pairing with each course (i.e. $20 for 3 wine pairings). Alternatively, wine (and other beverages) will be served by the glass. Please see the attachment for a description of the $30 set menu. The menu includes a vegetarian option in each course. Other dietary restrictions can be accommodated if indicated in advance (i.e. please specify dietary restrictions in the space provided in the RSVP form linked to below). Wine: We have been informed that the Tasting Room (the Southbrook wine store) will be open in the evening for anyone wishing to purchase wine.
Transportation: St. Catharine’s taxis operate at a flat rate of $35 between Brock and Southbrook since the trip crosses St. Catharine’s/Niagara-on-the-Lake county lines (approx. a 15 minute drive). Given this cost, it would be advantageous for people to share taxis there/back. In order to assist everyone with transportation arrangements, we’re proposing that those attending the dinner meet at the CSA registration table at 6:45 pm on Wednesday May 28th. That way, those who can offer rides can be matched with those who need rides, and taxi rides can be also be shared where necessary.

If you are interested in attending this year’s social, please use the following link to RSVP by May 15th with your name and email address and indicate whether:
1) you will have access to a vehicle
2) you would be willing to volunteer to drive a carpool from Brock University Campus to Southbrook Vineyards
and/or back
3) you have any dietary restrictions
4) you will be bringing a guest
