Writing a Successful Conference Abstract: Practical Tips to Getting Your Abstract Accepted

In this interactive webinar, Dr. Kate Butler talks through the dos & don’ts of conference abstract writing. Topics to be discussed include how much attention should be paid to various sections (lit review, methods, findings, etc.), how to write abstracts for different kinds of papers, and how to figure out which session to apply for. To make these tips & tools real, participants will have the opportunity to walk through a real-life example during the webinar. There will be time allotted at the end for questions and discussion.


kate photoKate Butler, Ph.D., is the Child Rights & Protection Advisor at Save the Children Canada. She is passionate about children’s rights here in Canada and around the world, and her academic work has focused on the rights and experiences of children in government care. Kate has 15 years of experience as a researcher, human rights advocate, and educator. At Save the Children Canada, Kate is responsible for building capacity, developing material, and measuring & sharing what works as it relates to child rights, participation, and protection. She was previously the Lead, Human Rights and Learning at Maytree, where she conducted research and analyzed policies on human rights and poverty in Toronto. She has taught Sociology of Childhood and Youth at a number of universities including the University of Victoria, Brock University & Ryerson University. She lives in Toronto, Ontario with her partner and three children.
