In Memoriam: Dr. Roxana Ng
It is with great sadness that the Adult Education & Community Development program at OISE announces the passing of our dear colleague, teacher, and friend Dr. Roxana Ng. Roxana was a longtime faculty member at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, current Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies in Education here and a cherished member of the University of Toronto’s national and international women’s studies programs. One of the first feminist scholars to make profound, critical contributions to the study of immigrant women, race, gender, labour, and embodied learning in Canada She made an enormous contribution to critical feminist knowledge by advancing Institutional Ethnography and methods to decolonize the process of knowledge creation.
Roxana will be deeply missed by her colleagues and students as well as her many friends in the numerous academic and activist communities that have been touched by her work. Several local events are planned to honor Roxana.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 19th from 2-5pm at the Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Toronto.
