“The 1971 Census and the Socioeconomic Classification of Occupations.”

The Canadian Review of Sociology mourns the passing of Dr. Peter C. Pineo, Professor Emeritus at McMaster University. Dr. Pineo envisioned the potential of sociology to help us understand important issues of the day, and the importance of having Canadian graduate programs available for Canadian students. His work on sociology of marriage and the family was among the first to harness longitudinal data to understand the decline in marital happiness. He will long be remembered in Canadian sociology.
The Canadian Sociological Association has arranged with Wiley publisher to make this work available without a subscription for the next three weeks in his honour:

Pineo, Peter C., John Porter and Hugh A. McRoberts. 1977. “The 1971 Census and the Socioeconomic Classification of Occupations.” Canadian Review of Sociology/Revue canadienne de sociologie, 14: 91-102.

In Memoriam: Dr. Peter C. Pineo by Tina Fetner, of McMaster University and E. Dianne Looker, of Acadia University and Mount Saint Vincent University.
