We are seeking Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) Scholars who are part of your network to participate in our study entitled Indigenous-specific Racism in the Academy: Research towards Action-Oriented Change.

The purpose of this Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)-funded 3-year Race, Gender, Diversity project is to examine the apparatuses underpinning and sustaining Indigenous-specific racism in the Canadian academy. We would appreciate it if you circulate our recruitment poster to your members. As a professional organization, your members are experts in their respective fields and may have valuable experiences to share with our team. This project received ethics approval from the University of Victoria Human Research Ethics Board on December 13, 2022.

Participants will be asked to consent to complete an online survey. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Participants can select a box on the consent form to participate in an individual interview and focus group if they wish.

The Director of this project is Dr. Amanda LaVallee, a Métis Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Victoria. The Co-Director of this project is Dr. Raven Sinclair, a Cree Professor and CEO of Raven Sinclair Consulting, Saskatoon.
