The Havens Wright Center for Social Justice: Erik Olin Wright Prize

The Havens Wright Center for Social Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has awarded Eric Shoemaker (Ph.D. candidate – University of Toronto) with the inaugural Erik Olin Wright Prize. The prize was established in honor of Erik Olin Wright (1947-2019),  whose intellectual preoccupations ranged from the analysis of class to the study of real utopias. He engaged theories of the state, economic sociology, and social inequality, always motivated by an explicit commitment to social justice. The prize shall be awarded annually for a paper by a graduate or professional student that best exemplifies the concerns that animated Wright’s work. For more information about the prize, please visit the Havens Wright Center website.
