Cross-appointed Positions

In October 2020, the Executive Committee of the Canadian Sociological Association approved a motion to expand the Black Caucus, Decolonization, and Equity Subcommittees.

New positions have been created for students to hold cross-appointed positions on these subcommittees as well as the Student Concerns Subcommittee to ensure the student perspective is represented when addressing equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization issues.

The approved studenst will hold the term until June 2021 at which time the position will be filled by an elected member. Note: The students are welcome to run for election to continue their term until June 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend virtual meetings of the Student Concerns as well as one of the following subcommittees; Black Caucus, Decolonization, Equity
  • Liaise between the subcommittees to share information on projects and initiatives
  • Identify and lead opportunities for collaboration between the subcommittees that will benefit student members and uphold our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization
