Call for Papers — ISA Sociology of Health (RC15)
The Research Committee on Sociology of Health (RC15) of the International Sociological Association invites early-career scholars to submit papers to its first international academic competition
Who can apply: current PhD students and researchers who obtained their doctorate within the three years prior to the deadline, working in the sociology of health.
Topics: social transformations and the reconfiguration of health inequalities, global health governance, and emerging cultural, political, intersectional or decolonial perspectives in health sociology. Papers on any other topic within the broader sociology of health are equally welcome.
Manuscript requirements:
- Single-authored only; original, unpublished, not under review elsewhere
- 4,000–6,000 words, excluding footnotes and references
- English, APA 7th edition
- Fully anonymised, including the file name, with a separate title page containing authorship details
What the winners receive: the six highest-ranked papers will be presented in a special session at the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology in Gwangju, Korea (4–10 July 2027).
The three top-ranked authors also receive four years of RC15 membership (where applicable) and full coverage of the congress registration fee. All papers selected for the session will be considered for publication in Social Constellations: A World Perspective, a peer-reviewed open-access journal based at the Korea University Institute of Social Research.
Deadline for full manuscripts: 15 September 2026. Results will be announced by 15 January 2027.
