Learn to make a difference in a changing world
As technological innovation and global change accelerates, the world needs professionals who can understand and thrive within the complex array of human behaviours, motivations, and human-technology interactions that drive and define us. Professionals who can design policy to guide tech and innovation toward human and social benefit, while avoiding adverse anti-democratic, environmental, and social impacts. The Sociology, Technology, and Innovation program at Ontario Tech is a unique program designed to provide training toward these future-focused careers.
Explore answers to such questions as:
- How do technological innovations impact human behaviour and interactions?
- What are the social and ethical implications of AI?
- How is technology shaping education and the workforce?
- Why are there so many debates about gender identity, racism, and inequality?
Learn to think critically about human social life and how technology shapes, and is shaped by, society. This program encourages you to question everyday assumptions while exploring topics like digital inequality, data ethics and social change. Through experiential learning, including community projects and research opportunities, you’ll apply theory to real-world issues and develop the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to navigate an innovative, interconnected world.
Our Sociology, Technology and Innovation program provides you with the opportunity to explore a wide range of issues, such as the nature of gender identity, racism and class, conflict, shared beliefs, the social implications of the internet and technology, forms of governance and social control, and their impacts on societies and communities.
