University of Calgary

The Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary invites applications for four tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. The anticipated start date for these positions is July 1, 2026.
We are seeking to hire a cohort of scholars whose research advances the discipline of sociology, enhances in complementary ways the strategic focus of our department on systemic injustice and structural harm, and contributes to standing of our department nationally and internationally. We especially welcome applications from researchers who examine systemic injustice and structural harm as intersectional and global in nature. Additionally, we are seeking to recruit at least one scholar who can teach courses and supervise research in statistics and advanced quantitative analysis at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department is also home to a popular undergraduate major program in Law & Society, and if relevant, applicants should indicate whether and how their training and skills might support that program.
These positions will fit within the Faculty of Arts strategic priorities: Justice, Equity and Transformation; and Connection, Community and Culture. Applicants will be expected to make meaningful contributions to one or more of the University of Calgary's commitments to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access (EDIA), Indigenization, transdisciplinary research and community-centered research and practice.
