Avec la nouvelle récente que le Congrès des sciences humaines de 2026 se tiendra dans un format entièrement virtuel, la Société canadienne de sociologie aimerait organiser sa propre conférence en personne l'année prochaine.
Afin d'aller de l'avant, nous recherchons un partenariat avec un comité pour travailler avec nous dans l'organisation de la logistique liée au lieu et aux commodités locales.
Vous trouverez ci-dessous les détails de l'appel à manifestation d'intérêt pour un comité d'organisation local, ainsi que la date limite du 31 juillet 2025. Nous organisons également une réunion d'information le 25 juin 2025, mais nous nous ferons un plaisir de répondre à vos questions à tout moment.
Call for Expression of Interest
Local Organizing Committee - Canadian Sociological Association 2026 Annual Conference
The Canadian Sociology Association Executive Committee (EC) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from potential Local Organizing Committees (LOC) interested in partnering with the CSA to deliver the 2026 CSA Annual Conference at a campus location in Canada in Spring 2026.
EOIs may be submitted by a single proposing department/institution, or by a LOC consisting of representatives from multiple co-located institutions in the same city interested in bringing the CSA meeting to their city.
The Expression of Interest should clearly state:
- The composition of the LOC; and the Sociology department(s) who are supporting it.
- The proposed dates of the conference.
- Any financial or in-kind contributions to the delivery of the conference provided by the host institution/LOC.
- A plan for student volunteers/employees to assist with conference logistics on campus.
- How the LOC will ensure accessibility expectations for CSA members/conference attendees.
- How the proposed venue will meet the following criteria for a 4-5 day conference:
- Minimum of 12 classrooms equipped with AV equipment to allow for parallel panel presentations (minimum room capacity 30).
- One lecture theatre for plenary sessions (minimum room capacity 100).
- One space with modular table seating suitable for multiple roundtable discussions.
- Space for conference registration tables and refreshment breaks between sessions.
- Space for vendors/book publishers to set up display booths.
- Venue for a conference evening reception either on campus or nearby off-campus.
- Conference rates for on-campus accommodations in residence.
- Conference rates for accommodations at local hotels.
- Wifi access for all conference attendees.
- Proximity to major airport; if location is at a distance from a major airport, then LOC should indicate a transportation option to shuttle conference-goers to conference site.
- Options for childcare provision on campus during conference.
EOIs should be submitted in PDF format to CSA Executive Director, Sherry Fox (office@csa-scs.ca) no later than July 31, 2025.
