2024 Participation Policies and Fees

The 57th Annual Conference of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) will be held in two sections.

1. Virtual sessions scheduled from Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, 2024.
2. In-person sessions scheduled from Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21, 2024 as part of the Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Congress in partnership with McGill University.

CSA Conference delegates benefit from the opportunity to learn from, and engage with, scholars and practitioners working within the discipline of sociology. We are hoping that this new Conference format will improve accessibility for our members and the wider community.

Conference Participation Requirements

**Deadline to complete the required registrations is April 15, 2024.**

Only participants (chair, moderator, discussant, presenters, panelists, or keynote speaker) in compliance by this deadline will be included in the Conference Program.

CSA Membership

Applicable to those participating in one or both Conference sections; virtual (June 3 – 7, 2024) and/or in-person (June 17 – 21, 2024).

All participants in a session (chair, moderator, discussant, presenters, panelists, and keynote speaker) must be a member of the Canadian Sociological Association.

Canadian Sociological Association Membership is independent of Conference registration.

The first step is to ensure that your membership is in good standing throughout June 21, 2024. This may require that you enrol as a new member of the Canadian Sociological Association or renew your membership if it is set to expire prior to the Conference. Membership renewal will be possible 45 days prior to the expiration date.

Contact us if you are unsure of your membership status.

Once your membership is confirmed, you may proceed to register for the Conference.

CSA In-person Conference Section Participant Registration

Applicable to those attending the in-person Conference section from June 17 – 21, 2024.

The Canadian Sociological Association Conference is held as part of the larger Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences therefore those wishing to attend our Conference at McGill University must register through Congress (registration opens in January 2024).

There are two components in the delegate registration fee; the ‘Congress Base Fee’ and the ‘Association Conference Fee’. When registering as a delegate, you will be asked to select the Association Conference(s) in which you will be participating or attending.  To participate in the CSA Conference, select ‘#59 – Canadian Sociological Association / Société canadienne de sociologie (CSA-SCS)’ and appropriate fee category.

Members of the CSA benefit from reduced Association Conference Fee rates.
